THRESHOLD (巫)

The character Mu (巫) in shamanism embodies the concept of a mediator between the human (earth) and the divine or natural realm (heaven). Its ancient form can be interpreted as a structure with a central axis and mirrored sides, suggesting a vertical and horizontal crossing that connects opposing directions.

The sky and the earth exist as two independent systems in constant flux, and this work reconstructs a shamanic state of possession as their gradual convergence. Beginning with a limited palette and rigid separation, the two layers slowly interact, their colors expanding and structures dissolving as the distance between them narrows. At the threshold where they meet, the separation collapses into a single flow, where possession emerges not as an event, but as a process of collision, synchronization, and transformation.
